Joe’ll gave an update on assessment. This included a handout on the “2017-2018 Testing Center Assessment Vision.” He spoke about using multiple measures to assess, including EAP, and how there are instances where a student would not need to take the assessment test. One example given was a student who had already taken college coursework elsewhere.
This is the implementation year for AVID on the TC campus. Lori spoke about where AVID strategies will be used on campus, particularly in targeted basic skills classes.
Lori brought the draft of the Integrated Plan. One goal that the team needs to decide on is “Increase basic skills completion by reducing the time it takes students to successfully transition to college-level mathematics and English courses. Need percentage.”
Lori, Danielle, and Kamala addressed the possibility of eliminating English 800 and 900 and using a co-requisite remediation model. There has been discussion of using faculty time in the Writing Lab to support this idea. Basic Skills budget |
