November 10, 2021

 

 

Members Present:

Ruby Payne, Diane Jones, Tina Mendoza, Leslie Minor, Chris Taylor, Mariza Martinez, Julian Martinez, John Eigenauer, and Wendy Berry

Academic Senate Council did not like the change. It was decided to change it back to the original charter.

  1. Approval January In-Service Schedule (Jan. 6-14, 2022)

Tina shared SLO Agenda for January in-service.

Julián asked if all of the SLO Day could be in Zoom and Leslie said she would have to get approval from Dr. Daniels.

Leslie asked for an hour in the January in-service for a presentation of Best Practices of effective contact hours/interactive learning on on-line classes. The available time granted was Tuesday at 3:00 PM. Adam will be the contact person. Also, Leslie stated that she would like for this panel to be in person.

Tina asked for the definition of interactive learning. Leslie said that students have to get substantive, regular and authentic feedback from the instructor.

John asked if his weekly Zoom meeting with students was considered interactive learning and Leslie answered that as long as there is a way to see that the meetings are happening then that would suffice.

Approved Jan. Inservice with changes noted above.

Information/Discussion Items

  1. Current Professional Development Opportunities

Distance Learning has sent out an email of three opportunities for Professional Development (Instructional Technology Tools and Strategies) and Leslie will talk to Marianne about where those recorded sessions will be posted. Leslie believes there will be one more Disabilities Awareness training and she will also send out state-wide opportunities.
