Mission:

Taft College Hall of Fame honors former students, teams, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff and community members who have excelled through competition, made a difference in the lives of our students or been strong supporters of Taft College.

The Hall of Fame Committee:

The Hall of Fame Committee will consist of 13 voting members.  Additional members may be added by a majority vote of the committee. The committee will be co-chaired by the Vice President of Student Services and a member elected by the committee. The committee shall consist of:

  1. Vice President of Students Services
  2. Director of Athletics
  3. Faculty Representative (2)
  4. Management Representative
  5. Confidential Representative
  6. Classified Representative (2)
  7. Superintendent/President
  8. Foundation Board Member
  9. Community Member (2)
  10. Executive Director, Marketing and Community Relations

Sub committees may be established for the purpose of processing nominations and for planning suitable recognition and induction of members.

When a member resigns, the committee will solicit letters of interest from individuals who wish to be on the Hall of Fame committee.  The committee will select a replacement from those who have submitted a letter of interest.

Induction Selection Process:

Nominations for election to the Hall of Fame must be submitted on the approved nomination form and will be due to the committee on March 15th of each year (academic year prior to ceremony).

Completed nomination forms will be sent to the Board of Trustees subcommittee for review.

The Hall of Fame committee will meet to review and select the final Hall of Fame recipients.  After a thorough review, each committee member will complete a written ballot assigning one of the following to each nominee:  (1) Highly recommended (2) Recommended (3) Not Recommended at this time.  Nominees receiving a majority of votes will be recommended to the Board of Trustees for election into the Taft College Hall of Fame.

Nominees will be selected from any of the nine categories. Nominees not selected will be on the nomination list for the following year up to a maximum of five years.

The committee will make its selection of nominees by May 1st, and then recipients will be sent to the Board of Trustees for approval. Selected nominees will be notified immediately following the Board of Trustees approval.

The selected nominee, or a representative, must be present at the ceremony unless the nominee is being honored posthumously.  If the selected nominee, or representative, is unavailable, the nominee will be honored at the next Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The committee may consider exceptions to this requirement.

Induction Ceremony:

A Hall of Fame banquet honoring selected nominees will be set annually.  An appropriate recognition plaque will be prepared and displayed prominently in an area designated for that purpose.
