{"id":277,"date":"2015-09-11T19:37:32","date_gmt":"2015-09-11T19:37:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ct-test-wp.taftcollege.edu\/access\/?p=277"},"modified":"2015-09-11T19:37:32","modified_gmt":"2015-09-11T19:37:32","slug":"september-11-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/committees.taftcollege.edu\/access\/september-11-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"September 11, 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Access Committee \u2013 Minutes \u2013 9.11.15<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Update(s) \u2013 10 min<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Equity template\/plan<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>due dates for AS, Governance, Board, chancellor\u2019s office (now Dec 18)<\/li>\n<li>We\u2019ve been asked to budget 170% of last years \u2013 or approx. $340K<\/li>\n<li>Will send out current budget update<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> APR reports &#8211; DI reports<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cCognos Club\u201d is meeting all day today and a half day tomorrow with Consultant Chad Harvey who wrote for us:\n<ul>\n<li>the two Annual Program Review (APR) reports that replicates Successful Course Completion and Successful Course Section Completion, and<\/li>\n<li>the Disproportionate Impact (DI) report that identifies students in DI population cohorts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Practically speaking we are now able to use the DI report to identify students for interventions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The benefit of this is that we can use the data in the APR for our purpose with Equity. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>III. Adam\u2019s data conference \u2013 report?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Adam is in the Cognos Club and will report at the next meeting<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Hiring update(s) <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Equity position hiring pool \u2013 review committee<\/li>\n<li>Pre-collegiate full-time faculty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><em>The equity technician position will hopefully be screened next week. The pre-collegiate full time position will go to board in October. Vicki recommended that an organizational chart be created as there are lots of pieces with BSI, QFS, AB86, etc. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Mentoring conversation <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Garden Pathways conversation\n<ul>\n<li>Trauma Informed approaches<\/li>\n<li>Mentoring<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>(ESP meeting notes handout)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The people from Garden Pathways presented the strategies they use in their mentoring program. Several steps need to be taken next: purchase the ETO software to track mentoring interactions, edit the mentor agreement, identify students, and organize a meet &amp; greet with mentors\/mentees. The plan is to identify DI students and hire them at 10 hours a week to be mentors, but they will also be mentored by a faculty\/staff member. Issues with student pay such as do students need a SSN need to be addressed. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Review of strategy \/ overall plan (ID DI -&gt; R&amp;D -&gt; SSSP)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Alignment with Student Success \u2013 enrollment management\n<ul>\n<li>Two year schedule of baseline\/core offerings and optional\/marginal offerings<\/li>\n<li>Subcommittee for program discontinuation, offering\/cancelling class sections<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Equity Extensions to APR\n<ul>\n<li>Equity data\/disaggregations in standard APR data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Equity DI<\/li>\n<li>Equity \u201clens\u201d to proposed CPC \u2013 Comprehensive Program Committee<\/li>\n<li>Student Mentors \u2013 work of informal ESP group\n<ul>\n<li>Goal \u201cget on the bike, start riding\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Engage student mentors now\n<ul>\n<li>Carefully define\/limit the scope<\/li>\n<li>Scale up quickly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>The group agreed to focus our energy on enrollment management. The goals include: a 2 year schedule and creating a subcommittee for program discontinuation. The subcommittee for program discontinuation needs to focus on policy: setting benchmarks, using APRs, etc. to plan for program discontinuation. It was pointed out that the Comprehensive Program Committee would really be a Comprehensive Program <u>Planning<\/u> committee. The goal would be to look at the APRs of the last 5 years, to make a plan for the future, not to review what has already been reviewed. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Writing the next Equity Plan<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Who would like to be on writing team?<\/li>\n<li>Oct AS: Discussion of TC Equity model at Oct Academic Senate (Jennifer?
