Faculty Professional Development Committee Minutes
September 8, 2021
Members Present:

Action Items
- Approval of Minutes from May 12, 2021
- PDC Meeting Schedule
- Second Wednesday of the Month
- Fall Dates: October 13th, November 10th, & December 8th
- Review Committee Charter
- Under “Responsibilities” section of PDC charter, include PDC responsibility to make recommendations to the Senate related to professional development so the Senate may then make recommendations to the Board of Trustees.
- Discussion during Committee Charter Review:
- Since PDC members do not have access to Faculty and Adjunct contact information to relay information related to “Lunch and Learn” the committee prefers the notification continue to come from the Office of Instruction
- Add “Current Professional Development Opportunities” as a standing PDC agenda item. “Lunch and Learn” topics will be discussed under this agenda item.
- All “Professional Development Opportunities” identified will be communicated to the Senate.
- The Faculty PDC is responsible for planning the Faculty Inservice schedule. If administrators or managers want to add sessions, they should contact the chair of the Faculty PDC. Sessions were added to the Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 schedules without knowledge of the PDC chair.
Information/Discussion Items
- January Inservice Schedule: January 6-14, 2022
- Consider remote schedule on Thursday and Friday due to the fact some classified and administration work remotely on those days.
- Consider the possibility that all sessions on the schedule may be held on Zoom. (Pending current pandemic status)
- Inservice Topics
- Look to explore “other” ideas. Last Inservice was Tech heavy.
- SLO Day – What will that look like?
- SLO committee is starting to develop a schedule.
- Plans to include time for data entry.
- Considering feedback provided from Faculty.
- Robert’s Rules of Order
- Training for “New Quizzes”
- Training for “Liquid Syllabus”- compatible with Canvas; Training on how to create pages in Canvas better so they are more accessible to students.
- Training on Accessibility
- EEO Training.
- Sexual Harassment Training

- “Lunch and Learn” Topic for October & November:
- FOCUS will be on DSPS (October is disabilities awareness month)
- Amar and Janice would like to present up to 3 sessions
- 1) History of ADA Federal Mandates and laws
- 2) TC accommodations
- 3) Accessibility/Technology in the Classroom.
- Training on “Common Look”
- “Lunch and Learn” moving forward-
- Trainings will be recorded and posted into a Canvas Shell
- Those that cannot attend can add to the discussion board for credit.
- Flex Time is available
