Faculty Professional Development Committee Minutes

December 9, 2020

Members Present:

  • Ruby Payne, Diane Jones, Chris Taylor, Leslie Minor, Mariza Martinez, and Julian Martinez

Members Absent:

  • Tina Mendoza and Wendy Berry

Welcome:

  • Meeting started: 12:10pm

Approval of Minutes from November 11, 2020

  • Minutes Approved

Finalize January Inservice Schedule (Jan. 7-15, 2021)

  • After surveying the Faculty, Distance Ed. Director, Marianne, reported that the distance education department would facilitate Canvas Studio and Recording Videos in Canvas sessions during the Jan. inservice. She asked that the presenter be listed as TBD. Marianne also requested the committee add a session for updating offline Faculty. Diane will ask that Marianne share the results of the survey with the committee. The other proposed distance education sessions may be offered at a future date. The committee agreed to the final version of the January inservice schedule and Diane will forward the updates/changes to Tiffany. Once Tiffany updates the schedule, she will send it out to everyone so that presenters can forward their Zoom links for her to add to the sessions.

May In-Service Ideas (May 24-26, 2021)

The May inservice will be offered online and Leslie mentioned she would like to see two different tracks, similar to last May. One track would focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion where faculty could view a variety of webinars that have been archived or also possibly participate in a live event. The other track would be a combination of other inservice topics which may include webinars from NISOD, AS Professional Development College, SISC, or Instructure/Canvas.

Other 

  • Ruby will serve as committee chair for the Spring 2021 semester.
