{"id":146,"date":"2015-02-12T20:51:19","date_gmt":"2015-02-12T20:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ct-test-wp.taftcollege.edu\/bsc\/?p=146"},"modified":"2015-02-12T20:51:19","modified_gmt":"2015-02-12T20:51:19","slug":"february-12-2015-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/committees.taftcollege.edu\/budget-committee\/february-12-2015-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"February 12, 2015 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BUDGET COMMITTEE MINUTES <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>February 12, 2015<\/p>\n<p>Members Present: Sonja Swenson, Brock McMurray, Sharyn Eveland, Sheri Horn-Bunk, Barbara Amerio, Jo Ellen Patterson and Debbie Hegeman as recorder.<\/p>\n<p>Members Absent: Bill Devine and Agnes Jose-Eguaras<\/p>\n<p>Brock welcomed Jo Ellen Patterson as the newest member of the Budget Committee and she shared her enthusiasm about participating.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPROVAL OF MINUTES <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The minutes from the meeting held December 11, 2014 were approved by consensus.<\/p>\n<p>The minutes from November 20, 2014 were not approved as a result of a quorum. As they weren\u2019t available during this meeting, the committee agreed they should be emailed to the members for approval.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BUDGET CALENDAR <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Brock reviewed our current status related to the Budget Calendar.<\/p>\n<p>January 1. Brock attended the Governors meeting where the 15-16 proposed budgets were released.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Dena is currently reviewing the positions requested based on recommendations.<\/li>\n<li>The Governance Council, Academic Senate and Classified units have ranked resource requests from the program reviews.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>February 1. Budget assumptions made \u2013 preliminary revenue allocations being established and presented to GC. (Currently being reviewed)<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Budget managers are working with faculty and staff to identify budget needs and resource allocations for the needs (in progress, Program Review)<\/li>\n<li>HR distributed step and column for all employees to budget mangers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>He also reminded the committee we would continue to review the calendar at each meeting so the members feel comfortable when asked questions related to the process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BUDGET UPDATE (Brock) <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Governor is focused on Student Success. The SS initiative identified 22-24 areas of student success.<\/li>\n<li>Last year the Matriculation Budget (now 3SP) received approximately $427,000 however received a substantial increase in funding to $1M. There were several steps to be completed to earn this money such as submit a program plan for approval to the State.<\/li>\n<li>Student Equity began last year with a $235,000 although there should be more received which would be connected to students succeeding at a lower rate than other students in their group.<\/li>\n<li>Also being discussed is increasing the schools base \u2013 this would be very helpful in funding the upcoming increases facing the Districts related to STRS\/PERS.<\/li>\n<li>Increased access on growth (possibly 2%) with an earn it to get it approach.
