Minutes of the Curriculum and General Education Committee Meeting

Wednesday, August 17, 2016, 11:10 p.m., T-13

AGENDA

The next meeting of the Curriculum and General Education Committee will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 12:10-1:30pm in the Cougar Room

 

 

  1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: From the August 17, 2016 Curriculum & General Education meeting

On a motion by S. Eveland, seconded by T. Furman, and unanimously carried, the Curriculum & General Education minutes were approved.

 

  • DISCUSSION ITEMS:               
  • Curriculum Institute Update

 

  1.  

 

Vicki and Danielle reported what was discussed that the Curriculum Institute over the summer. At the Institute much discussion was had regarding zero degrees, distance learning, common assessment tools which is replacing Accuplacer, and UC Pathways.

 

  • Information Literacy

 

    1.  

INCO is currently a local graduation requirement. The CSLO will be mapped in eluman as a general education assessment. Each division will let their peers know that they are to use the common INCO SLO in their courses.

 

  • Ethnic Study Proposal

 

 

Courses will be identified on our existing general education patterns that meet the Ethnic Studies requirement. The list of possible courses will be discussed at the September Curriculum & General Education meeting.

 

  • Clean up of Degrees

 

    1.  

Vicki plans to meet with each division to discuss cleaning up the degrees in our catalog.

 

  • Training New Curriculum Members

 

 

The training of new curriculum members wasn’t discussed, but the Curriculum & General Education committee charter regarding membership was discussed. This will be on the agenda in the September Curriculum & General Education meeting.

 

  • Courses in the Fall

 

    1.  

Faculty are encouraged to submit their course changes in the Fall, so programs can be reviewed in the Spring.
