I. What is Student Success?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Taft College is Dedicated to Success, and supports the recommendations of the Student Success Act and the newly implemented Student Success & Support Program (formerly matriculation). Student Success & Support Program (SSSP) is a process that enhances student access to the California Community Colleges and promotes and sustains the efforts of credit students to be successful in their educational endeavors. The goals of Student Success & Support Program are to ensure that all students complete their college courses, persist to the next academic term, and achieve their educational objectives through the assistance of the student-direct components of the student success & support program process: admissions, orientation, assessment and testing, counseling, and student follow-up.<\/p>\n

Program SLO:<\/strong> After completing the matriculation process, students will attain their educational goals.<\/p>\n

Budget:<\/strong> Credit\u2014$427,904 Non-Credit\u2014$23,891 TOTAL\u2014$451,795<\/p>\n

a. EC 78210:<\/strong> Renames Matriculation Act of 1986 as the Seymour-Campbell Student Success Act of 2012<\/p>\n

b. EC 78211:<\/strong> Delineates the Legislature\u2019s intent for the Student Success Act<\/p>\n

c. EC 78212:<\/strong> Delineates the student\u2019s and the institution\u2019s responsibilities, requires the BOG to establish a reasonable, phased-in implementation period based on resources available to serve students, & establishes name of program as the: \u201cStudent Success and Support Program.\u201d<\/p>\n

d. EC 78212:<\/strong> Student Success & Support Program funding targeted to core matriculation<\/p>\n

e. EC 78215:<\/strong> Defines role of BOG in developing policies and processes for mandated student participation in core services, exemption categories, and appeals process<\/p>\n

f. EC 78216:<\/strong> Requires BOG to develop funding formula for Student Success and Support Program, including criteria such as services provided.<\/p>\n

g. EC 78216(b)(4):<\/strong> Links funding to centralized assessment & the new Scorecard<\/p>\n

h. EC 78216(b)(5):<\/strong> Provides BOG with the authority to fund other services, as funding allows.<\/p>\n
