{"id":746,"date":"2013-02-13T15:49:45","date_gmt":"2013-02-13T15:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ct-test-wp.taftcollege.edu\/facilities\/?p=66"},"modified":"2013-02-13T15:49:45","modified_gmt":"2013-02-13T15:49:45","slug":"february-13-2013-minutes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/committees.taftcollege.edu\/facilities\/february-13-2013-minutes\/","title":{"rendered":"February 13, 2013 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FACILITIES COMMITTEE MINUTES <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tuesday, February 13, 2013<\/p>\n<p>12:00 pm \u2013 1:00 pm<\/p>\n<p>Cafeteria Conference Room<\/p>\n<p>Members Present: Brock McMurray, Carla Sandoval, Claudia Casagrande, Craig Johnson, Greg Hawkins, Jeff Ross, Jose Vargas, Marisa Slayton, Sonja Swenson and Debbie Hegeman as recorder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>APPROVAL OF MINUTES <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The minutes of the meeting held December 11, 2012 were approved by consensus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PROJECT UPDATE REPORT FOR CAMPUS FACILITIES: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Projects in Design: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Center:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Construction Documents are in process. Meetings are being held with committee members for plan development. The current anticipated construction start date is end of year 2014 pending completion of<\/p>\n<p>the Dorm project. Renderings are in process for campus presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Some changes made to the drawings since our last meeting are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mailroom was increased<\/li>\n<li>Moved wall in bookstore to east<\/li>\n<li>Opened up the TV Lounge room \u2013 no permanent walls \u2013 added patrician.<\/li>\n<li>Added space to the staff dining and hoping to add more<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some changes to the drawings discussed were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Picnic tables with umbrella on south side<\/li>\n<li>Trellis on west side<\/li>\n<li>Suggest adding solar to trellis structure<\/li>\n<li>Remove the metal slats and add reflective band instead<\/li>\n<li>Move old Taft College sign to Ash Street entrance<\/li>\n<li>Name the building<\/li>\n<li>Check on possibilities of skate board deterrents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Projects in Working Drawings: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dorm Modernization:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Working drawings are at DSA being reviewed for DSA\/ code compliance. Structural and Fire comments have been received from DSA, still pending Access review. The Dorm project is still anticipated scheduled to start construction summer of 2013 pending DSA review time. The construction of the dorm project will run through end of 2014.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Projects in Construction: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Center for Independent Living (TIL):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Center for Independent Living project has progressed to approximately 85% completion through January 2013. The project is currently on track to be completed end of March 2013. Current project status and anticipated progress for this month:<\/p>\n<p>o <strong>Building 700- Main Building:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete interior finishes and ceilings.<\/li>\n<li>Install cabinets and flooring<\/li>\n<li>Continue to work on planters and concrete flatwork adjacent to building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o <strong>Building 800- Dorm Units:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Install flooring<\/li>\n<li>Continue with site planters and concrete flatwork adjacent to building.<\/li>\n<li>Install cabinets<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o <strong>Building 900- Student Lounge Building:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete interior finishes and ceilings.<\/li>\n<li>Install cabinets and flooring<\/li>\n<li>Continue to work on planters and concrete flatwork adjacent to building.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>o <strong>Project Sitework:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continuing with retaining wall construction, adding brick veneer.<\/li>\n<li>The contained underground planters are also continuing this month.<\/li>\n<li>Contractor will be grading site and concrete flatwork is schedule to begin this month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Other:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>STEM Tech Center<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>o AP is meeting with Staff to determine scope and budget (funds available in the STEM grant). Staff is looking at the following spaces:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Classroom space for 40 students<\/li>\n<li>Lab space for 35 students<\/li>\n<li>Admin space for 6 offices and a meeting room that can facilitate 12 people.<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s restrooms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fred Holmes wants to work with Taft College and Taft Union High School on this project.
