GOVERNANCE COUNCIL MINUTES<\/strong><\/p>\n January 9, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n Members Present:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kanoe Bandy, Sheri Black, Darcy Bogle, Bill Devine, Sharyn Eveland, Bruce Ferguson, Greg Golling, Vicki Jacobi, Laura L\u2019Euyer, Dena Maloney, Brock McMurray, Velda Pena, Tony Thompson, Brandy Young, and Mark Williams.<\/p>\n Members Absent:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Kamala Carlson and Adam Hightower<\/p>\n Guest:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Adrian Agundez and Eric B\u00e9rub\u00e9<\/p>\n Facilitator:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vicki Jacobi<\/p>\n Recorder:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Brandy Young<\/p>\n Timekeeper:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Laura L\u2019Euyer<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n APPROVAL OF MINUTES<\/strong><\/p>\n COMMITTEE REPORTS<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Mark Williams reported the committee\u2019s work is going well and is currently focusing on enrollment management.\u00a0 Enrollment for spring is above census from last year at this time.\u00a0 There will be a new report available from IT that will give a routine update to monitor enrollment which will include headcount and precise FTES for up to five years.\u00a0 It will be available on the web for review.<\/p>\n The Success Committee has not met since the December 12th Governance Council meeting.\u00a0 The campus hosted a Cougar Day for incoming and potential students.\u00a0 The event was advertised via radio.\u00a0 There were 19 assessments, 22 orientations, 82 counseling sessions, and 25 -30 students registered for the Spring.<\/p>\n The Budget Committee has not met since the December 12th<\/sup>Governance Council meeting.\u00a0 Brock will be going to Sacramento the week of January 12th<\/sup> for the Governor\u2019s budget report.\u00a0 The state budget is favorable for the K-14 schools, which is what TC is classified under.\u00a0 Even though the budget looks positive, it has been recommended that community colleges continue to be responsible with their money. There will be changes to the budget. There is an ongoing cost with STRS and PERS annual increases.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The SPC has not met since the December 12th<\/sup> Governance Council meeting.\u00a0 The committee had scheduled a working meeting on January 6th<\/sup> from 9 a.m. to noon but had to cancel due to some members not able to attend.\u00a0 The committee will reschedule a meeting when all members are able to participate.\u00a0 The Strategic Action Plan (SAP) was approved by the Governance Council and will now go to the Board of Trustees for approval.\u00a0 Eric will present the Strategic Action Plan to the Board of Trustees at the January 14th<\/sup> meeting then it will be implemented on July 1, 2015.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Governance Council<\/strong><\/p>\n January 9, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n Page 2<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The Budget Committee has not met since the December 12th<\/sup>Governance Council meeting.\u00a0 Brock will be going to Sacramento the week of January 12th<\/sup> for the Governor\u2019s budget report.\u00a0 The state budget is favorable for the K-14 schools, which is what TC is classified under.\u00a0 Even though the budget looks positive, it has been recommended that community colleges continue to be responsible with their money. There is an ongoing cost with STRS and PERS annual increases.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The committee is working on two goals.\u00a0 The first goal is to compile all the safety and security documents in to one document.\u00a0 A draft of the document was reviewed by the committee members in the fall for input.\u00a0 Progress is still being made on the draft and the committee hopes to have the document finalized for Spring 2015.\u00a0 WESTEC reviewed the Slip, Trip and Hazard report and is addressing issues or concerns.\u00a0\u00a0 A meeting with WESTEC takes place once a semester to coordinate their safety needs.\u00a0 There continues to be a wide-range of discussion on all recommendations to improve safety on our campus.\u00a0 The lock-down procedures are currently being updated.\u00a0 Officer Kevin Altenhofel is available to give personal instruction on lock down procedures.\u00a0 An announcement regarding personal instruction will be made to all faculty and staff at the Student Services\u2019 meeting during in-service.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n RESOURCE REQUESTS RANKINGS<\/strong><\/p>\n (Led by Dr. Eric B\u00e9rub\u00e9, Coordinator of Institutional Assessment, Research, & Planning)<\/em><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Governance Council<\/strong><\/p>\n January 9, 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n Page 3<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n\n
