Constitution and Bylaws<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mission:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Taft College Hall of Fame honors former students, teams, coaches, administrators, faculty, staff and community members who have excelled through competition, made a difference in the lives of our students or been strong supporters of Taft College.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Hall of Fame Committee:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>The Hall of Fame Committee will consist of 13 voting members.\u00a0 Additional members may be added by a majority vote of the committee. The committee will be co-chaired by the Vice President of Student Services and a member elected by the committee. The committee shall consist of:<\/p>\n

  1. Vice President of Students<\/span> Services<\/li>\n
  2. Director of Athletics<\/li>\n
  3. Faculty Representative (2)<\/li>\n
  4. Management Representative<\/li>\n
  5. Confidential Representative<\/li>\n
  6. Classified Representative (2)<\/li>\n
  7. Superintendent\/President<\/li>\n
  8. Foundation Board Member<\/li>\n
  9. Community Member (2)<\/li>\n
  10. Executive Director, Marketing and Community Relations<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Sub committees may be established for the purpose of processing nominations and for planning suitable recognition and induction of members.<\/p>\n

    When a member resigns, the committee will solicit letters of interest from individuals who wish to be on the Hall of Fame committee.\u00a0 The committee will select a replacement from those who have submitted a letter of interest.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Induction Selection Process:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Nominations for election to the Hall of Fame must be submitted on the approved nomination form and will be due to the committee on March 15th<\/sup> of each year (academic year prior to ceremony).<\/p>\n

    Completed nomination forms will be sent to the Board of Trustees subcommittee for review.<\/p>\n

    The Hall of Fame committee will meet to review and select the final Hall of Fame recipients.\u00a0 After a thorough review, each committee member will complete a written ballot assigning one of the following to each nominee:\u00a0 (1) Highly recommended (2) Recommended (3) Not Recommended at this time.\u00a0 Nominees receiving a majority of votes will be recommended to the Board of Trustees for election into the Taft College Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

    Nominees will be selected from any of the nine categories. Nominees not selected will be on the nomination list for the following year up to a maximum of five years.<\/p>\n

    The committee will make its selection of nominees by May 1st<\/sup>, and then recipients will be sent to the Board of Trustees for approval. Selected nominees will be notified immediately following the Board of Trustees approval.<\/p>\n

    The selected nominee, or a representative, must be present at the ceremony unless the nominee is being honored posthumously.\u00a0 If the selected nominee, or representative, is unavailable, the nominee will be honored at the next Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The committee may consider exceptions to this requirement.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Induction Ceremony:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/strong>A Hall of Fame banquet honoring selected nominees will be set annually.\u00a0 An appropriate recognition plaque will be prepared and displayed prominently in an area designated for that purpose.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Categories of Recognition:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/strong>Distinguished Administrator<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \u00a0<\/strong>Nominee must be retired.<\/li>\n
    • Nominee must have rendered contributions to the campus community that are documented as clearly and measurably exceeding in quality and magnitude of that which might be ordinarily expected of someone occupying the same position. Areas of accomplishment may include:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
        \n
      1. \n
          \n
        1. Contributions to Taft College through shared governance committees, special projects, volunteerism, establishment of new programs or services, etc.<\/li>\n
        2. Service to the community as a representative of Taft College<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
            \n
          • Nominee must have left a lasting legacy for the campus community.<\/li>\n
          • Nominee may be awarded posthumously.<\/li>\n
          • A detailed biography including years of service, contributions, and\/or community service will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

            Distinguished Alumnus<\/strong><\/p>\n

              \n
            • \u00a0<\/strong>The Distinguished Alumnus recognizes an alumnus for extraordinary achievement of an exceptional nature in any field as well as contributions to the community or the College.<\/li>\n
            • Nominee must have attended the college for at least two semesters.<\/li>\n
            • Nominee is eligible ten or more years after their final enrollment at Taft College.<\/li>\n
            • Nominee must have achieved prominence in his or her field, be recognized in the community, and\/or be recognized at the state or national level for accomplishment. Desirable qualifications may include:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
                \n
              1. Community service<\/li>\n
              2. Participation in ASB, athletics, clubs or other organizations during the time the nominee was a student at Taft College<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                  \n
                • Nominee may be awarded posthumously.<\/li>\n
                • A detailed biography including community service or participation in ASB, athletics, clubs or other organizations during the time the nominee was a student at Taft College. Also including accomplishments in their field, recognition in the community, and\/or recognition at the state or national level for accomplishments.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                  \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                  Distinguished Classified<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                    \n
                  • Nominee must be retired.<\/li>\n
                  • Nominee must have rendered contributions to the campus community that are documented as clearly and measurably exceeding in quality and magnitude of that which might be ordinarily expected of someone occupying the same position. Areas of accomplishment may include:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                    1. Contributions to Taft College through shared governance committees, special projects, volunteerism, etc.<\/li>\n
                    2. Club and student activities involvement<\/li>\n

                                1. Contributions to Taft College through shared governance committees, special projects, volunteerism, establishment of new programs or services, etc.<\/li>\n
                                2. Service to the community as a representative of Taft College<\/li>\n
                                3. Art exhibitions, concerts, public performances, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                                  • Nominee must have left a lasting legacy for the students and colleagues involving teaching methods, research, curriculum development, new programs, etc.<\/li>\n
                                  • Nominee may be awarded posthumously.<\/li>\n
                                  • A detailed biography including years of service, contributions, and\/or community service will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                     <\/p>\n

                                    Extraordinary Service Award<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                      \n
                                    • Nominee must have rendered extraordinary service, leadership or support to any program at Taft College.<\/li>\n
                                    • Nominee may be awarded posthumously.<\/li>\n
                                    • A detailed biography including extraordinary service, leadership, support and\/or contributions will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                      \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                      Outstanding Coach<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                        \n
                                      • Nominee must have coached in one or more sports in an athletic program at Taft College.<\/li>\n
                                      • Nominee must have been inactive from coaching at Taft College for at least five years.<\/li>\n
                                      • Nominee must have led a team or teams to excellence through competition while at Taft College and\/or after leaving Taft College (i.e. university, professional athlete, degrees obtained or career awards.)<\/li>\n
                                      • Nominee is a coach who has shown that they have had a positive influence on the lives and careers of student athletes.<\/li>\n
                                      • Nominee may be awarded posthumously.<\/li>\n
                                      • A detailed biography including accomplishments, honors and achievements will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                         <\/p>\n

                                        Outstanding Female Athletic Achievement<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                          \n
                                        • Nominee must have competed in one or more sports while attending Taft College.<\/li>\n
                                        • Nominee is eligible ten or more years after their final competition.<\/li>\n
                                        • Nominee must have achieved excellence through competition while at Taft College and\/or after leaving Taft College (i.e. university, professional athlete, degrees obtained or career awards.)<\/li>\n
                                        • Nominee may be awarded posthumously.<\/li>\n
                                        • A detailed biography including names and years of the sports the athlete participated in, honors received and \/or achievements will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                          \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                          Outstanding Male Athletic Achievement<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                            \n
                                          • Nominee must have competed in one or more sports while attending Taft College.<\/li>\n
                                          • Nominee is eligible ten or more years after their final competition.<\/li>\n
                                          • Nominee must have achieved excellence through competition while at Taft College and\/or after leaving Taft College (i.e. university, professional athlete, degrees obtained or career awards.)<\/li>\n
                                          • Nominee may be awarded posthumously.<\/li>\n
                                          • A detailed biography including names and years of the sports the athlete participated in, honors received and \/or achievements will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                                            \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                            Outstanding Team Achievement\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

                                              \n
                                            • For a team to be eligible for induction, the team must have participated in a bowl game, earned a spot in the state playoffs and\/or won either a conference or state championship. They must show excellence through competition.<\/li>\n
                                            • The team is eligible ten or more years after their competition.<\/li>\n
                                            • A detailed description of team accomplishments, including the sport, year, honors received and\/or achievements will be required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
