Information Technology Committee Minutes March 19, 2004 <\/strong><\/p>\n Members Present: <\/strong>Adrian Agundez, Patti Bench, Kirk Brettschneider, Mimi Collins, Wayne Cook, John Eigenauer, Mark Gibson, Jack Gallon, Michael Highers, Robert Hill, Brian Jean, Kevin Kasper, Vince Maiocco, Pong Pungchai, Dean Sheehy, Sonja Swenson, Kandi Ward, Linda West, Bob Wiltrout.<\/p>\n Meeting began at 9:05a<\/p>\n Schedule Change: <\/strong>Due to a scheduling conflict with other committees, Kirk requested that we reschedule our meeting to 10:05 in A-10. Request was approved.<\/p>\n Goals: <\/strong>Reviewed Technology Committee goals hand-out on format that is Master Plan approved. Dean suggested Policy\/Procedure accessibility to online courses. Brian feels before that happens we need technology for faculty support of all students. Brian also feels we need to develop new techniques for home-grown multimedia projects. A task force was developed consisting of Brian, Rob Teel, Patti, and Adrian to work on this.<\/p>\n Instructional Lab: <\/strong>Brian suggested that a lab be developed with an instructional technologist to assist faculty or possibly combining a resource center and faculty development lab.<\/p>\n Technology Committee\/Planning Council: <\/strong>A task force was developed to define the role of Technology Committee and how we support Planning Council. The task force members are Adrian, Mimi, Linda, and Kirk.<\/p>\n E-Mail: <\/strong>Discussed the definition of Emeritus Status in regards to keeping e-mail accounts. One possibility would be to discuss with retiree during the exit interview whether their account will still be utilized after retiring. As a retired employee, should they be entitled to an e-mail account? Another suggestion was to discontinue the account due to the cost or have the retiree share the cost to keep the account activated. A fired employee will have a 30-90 day transition period to wrap up activity in their account.<\/p>\n Personal Mailbox: <\/strong>It is now possible to replicate unread e-mails to your laptop. To replicate read e-mails, mark them as unread. Adrian is still working on copying conference folders and building a copy of the school directory.<\/p>\n SPAM Filter: <\/strong>Reviewed handout with instructions on how to create Advanced Mail Rules for SPAM. Computer needs to be running Version 7.1. Adrian would like all committee members to create Mail Rules by Friday and let him know how it\u2019s working.<\/p>\n Dorm Project: <\/strong>The dorm project is still ongoing. As soon as the P.O. is created the materials can be ordered.<\/p>\n Teleconferencing: <\/strong>Teleconferencing training presentation on March 17 for the new teleconferencing equipment in the library was very successful.<\/p>\n
