{"id":299,"date":"2016-11-07T21:09:45","date_gmt":"2016-11-07T21:09:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ct-test-wp.taftcollege.edu\/sloasc\/?p=299"},"modified":"2016-11-07T21:09:45","modified_gmt":"2016-11-07T21:09:45","slug":"friday-october-24-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/committees.taftcollege.edu\/sloasc\/friday-october-24-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday, October 24, 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Steering Committee<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Minutes<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>October 24, 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Counseling Conference Room<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>12:10 \u2013 1:00 pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Present:<\/strong> Vicki Jacobi, Geoffrey Dyer, James May, Tina Mendoza, Debora Rodenhauser,<br \/>\nPaul Blake, and Terri Smith<\/p>\n<p><strong>Members Absent:<\/strong> Michelle Beasley, Mike Jiles, Abbas Jarrahian, and Melissa Thornsberry<\/p>\n<p><strong>Secretary:<\/strong> Brandy Young (absent) Vicki Jacobi<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Review of SLO Day Evaluations<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Overall\u00a0 evaluations were on the neutral to positive side with 14 &#8211; 5 points, 9 \u2013 4 points, 19 \u2013 3 points, 5 \u2013 2 points, and 4 -1 points.\u00a0 Only 15 returned evaluations.\u00a0 Members noted that some of their evaluations were not in the packet of evaluations. Wondered if the electronically submitted evaluations were not included.\u00a0 Looked for themes in the written portion of the evaluations.\u00a0 Conclude that people were at different stages of understanding SLOs which might explain why the SLO Day resonated with some faculty and not with others. Discussed the effectiveness of SLO Day and Faculty Friday trainings.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Preliminary Discussion for Spring SLO Day<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>After discussion, members concluded that we should offer several tracks for the SLO Day where faculty could choose the track that best fit their needs.\u00a0 Start with a general opening session in the library to introduce the day, followed by breakout sessions for<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How to input SLO data into eLumen<\/li>\n<li>Time to input SLO data into eLumen<\/li>\n<li>What does the SLO data mean that\u2019s in eLumen<\/li>\n<li>Session for program leads to show the usage of eLumen reports<\/li>\n<li>Session with Bob Pacheco to analyze their assessment data<\/li>\n<li>Resource allocations and reassessment of SLO<\/li>\n<li>Best practices of rubric development<\/li>\n<li>Defining the next institutional SLO to be assessed next year<\/li>\n<li>Develop a common department specific assessment including a grade norming and common rubric<\/li>\n<li>Develop a shared definition of the next ISLO to be assessed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Would need to see who could facilitate each breakout session.\u00a0 Might be good to have more transparency with regards to level of SLO assessment activity as seen over the last few years.\u00a0 Perhaps compile the data from the ACCJC Annual Reports.
