{"id":73,"date":"2015-06-04T15:33:28","date_gmt":"2015-06-04T15:33:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ct-test-wp.taftcollege.edu\/sloasc\/?p=73"},"modified":"2015-06-04T15:33:28","modified_gmt":"2015-06-04T15:33:28","slug":"friday-april-19-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/committees.taftcollege.edu\/sloasc\/friday-april-19-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Friday, April 19, 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINUTES <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Friday, April 19, 2013<\/p>\n<p>9 a.m. \u2013 10:00 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Counseling Conference Room<\/p>\n<p>Present: Jennifer Altenhoffel, Brandy Cramer, Geoffrey Dyer, Vicki Herder Michelle Oja, David Reynolds, David Layne<\/p>\n<p>Absent: Joe\u2019ll Chaidez<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong> Minutes from March 15, 2013 \u2013 Annual Report <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Went over the changes made to the report before submission.<\/li>\n<li>Discussed integrity, honesty, and being accountable for the correct numbers. Discussed how other schools are generating their numbers and how eLumen has helped TC.<\/li>\n<li>Discussed Westec and how the numbers are improving in SLO assessment \u2013 mainly in Court Reporting<\/li>\n<li>Discussed the challenges with Westec and assessment of SLOs.\n<ul>\n<li>Westec students are about 10,000. The way students are entered into Banner is a problem. Working on assessments is a challenge when the data upload is not accurate. How do we assess the classes that are being offered but are not in the data upload? For instance the Passport class is offered many times throughout the semester, but is not in eLumen because of the issues with Banner and the data upload process. It is hopeful that once the new VP arrives a process can be developed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Invite Bill and Randy from Westec to join SLOASC.<\/li>\n<li>If we are asked by the Commission we will explain to them why Westec SLOs are not being fully assessed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li><strong> Mapping SLOs \u2013 Status Update from Divisions <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Vicki gave a brief summary why we need to map SLOs to PSLOs and ISLOs and how it works.<\/li>\n<li>Vicki explained how the mapping tool will help in reporting assessment scores at the program level.<\/li>\n<li>The English department has started mapping their SLOs. \uf0b7 Vicki has met with the following program leads to explain the mapping process:\n<ul>\n<li>Kanoe Bandy<\/li>\n<li>Kamala Carlson<\/li>\n<li>Jennifer Altenhofel<\/li>\n<li>Michelle Oja<\/li>\n<li>Sonja Swenson<\/li>\n<li>Becky Roth<\/li>\n<li>Stacey Eastman<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>All mapping should be completed by June 30, 2013.<\/li>\n<li>All fall 2012 and spring 2013 SLO assessment should be completed by June 30, 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li><strong> Mission Statement for the SLO Webpage <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Vicki gave a brief summary on the changes to the SLO webpage. Page 1 \u2013 Mission statement, Page 2 \u2013 Quick Links and Resources, Page 3 \u2013 SLOs.<\/li>\n<li>A finalized version of the SLO webpage mission statement was approved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>\u201cThe Student Learning Outcomes team assists faculty and staff in <\/u><\/strong><strong>the development of student learning outcomes and effective authentic assessment and analysis of data with thoughtful <u>considered improvements to courses, programs, and services with a culture of evidence and on-going dialogue. The SLO team <\/u>values the culture of inquiry, integrity of the data, and the <u>academic freedom of faculty to determine the best method for <\/u>student learning.
